WhatsApp is working on a new feature ‘Audio Chats’ for beta Android users. According to the report of the leading WhatsApp news source WABetaInfo, the WhatsApp developers team is working to add a new waveform icon in the chat header which will allow users to initiate audio chats. This feature will be available in a future update of the app.
The Meta-owned platform has recently updated the app for Windows. Now it has also released the ability of group audio and video calling for Desktop. In this current beta update, the platform is enhancing its chat feature for the Android app. Know more details in this article below.

WhatsApp Audio Chats for Android Users
It is well known that the popular Instant messenger and chat support software is regularly working to enhance users’ experience on the app. It keeps introducing new useful features and improving the previous ones. In a previous update, the platform announced improved calling features for Windows.
After this update, Desktop users can make group video calls with up to 8 participants and audio calls with up to 32 participants. Now with this new Audio Chat feature the platform is reportedly working to improve the calls feature on the Android app too.

The new Audio Chats for Android users
The independent WhatsApp news portal has also shared a screenshot of the feature. In the released image you can see that a new waveform icon will be added to the chat header within your conversation with which you can initiate audio chats. You can also see a red button that lets you end ongoing calls along with some additional space.
As per the reports with this new feature, you will also be able to see the audio waveform while switching between different conversations. However, its exact function is yet to be known.

As mentioned earlier the Audio Chats feature is currently under development process so it is not available to beta testers. The platform has submitted this update through the Google Play beta program with this update the current version reaches to 2.23.7.12.
