As per the report, this feature would also free you from the trouble of backing up your chats and messages on Google Drive while switching to a new phone. This current beta update shares some more details about the same WhatsApp chat transfer feature.

The WhatsApp news reporter also shared a screenshot of the feature. The image reveals the process of how migration will work in the future. As mentioned in the earlier report, to transfer your chat history, first you will have to open the chat transfer section. Then you need to scan the QR code displayed on the new Android device.

In the old phone, you will see a ‘Move chats from old phone’ notification. And the new phone will show ‘Scan QR code with old phone’. After you scan the provided QR code in the new phone your complete chat history will be finally migrated.

This new chat transfer feature will reportedly be a quick option to shift your conversations while switching to a new Android device. However, this feature is currently limited only to Android devices. As it is still under development process the ability to transfer chats is not available to beta testers.
