How Google Made Chrome Faster and Better
Google engineers made many changes inside Chrome. They focused on improving memory usage and speed. They redesigned how Chrome uses internal memory structures.
These updates affected DOM, layout, CSS, and painting sections. The goal was to use memory more efficiently. They reduced unnecessary memory actions by organizing memory properly.
The Blink engine now keeps memory in the right place. It uses CPU cache in a better way. Chrome also expanded the use of Oilpan memory system.
They moved more parts of Chrome to use Oilpan. Oilpan packs memory better and works faster. This improved the browser’s speed and system efficiency.
Developers also looked at areas where Chrome spent most time. This helped them make better changes to boost performance. These upgrades helped Chrome reach its best score yet.
Test Results and Device Details Shared by Google
The Speedometer 3 test used a MacBook Pro device. It had the latest M4 chip and ran macOS 15. Chrome 137 (stable) scored 51.43 on the test.
Chrome 138 (beta) scored 51.83 points on Speedometer 3. Chrome 139 (developer version) scored the highest — 52.35 points.
Google shared a graph showing these growing scores. The chart shows how each Chrome version improved over time. Chrome’s score increased 72 percent since May 2022.
Google used Speedometer 3 for this testing. The newer Speedometer 3.1 test was not used. Other browsers like Edge and Opera also use Chrome’s Blink engine.
This means they might also benefit from these updates. But Google is leading with the best performance score right now.
