Just like the ability to report messages and contacts to WhatsApp, now you will also be able to report if anybody posts a status that may seem to violate the Meta-owned company’s terms of service. As per the reports, when any status update is reported it will be forwarded to the moderation team for verification.

WhatsApp Let Users Report Status Updates

A few days back the popular instant messaging app released the ability to view status updates within the chat list. Now the platform is again developing this new feature that will help the WhatsApp moderation team to keep the platform safe for all users.

This new feature would let users report a status update right within a new menu in the status section. The leading WhatsApp news portal WABetaInfo has also shared a screenshot of this feature. In the preview, you can see that the company has added a new ‘Report’ option.

WABetaInfo also mentions that this feature does not break end-to-end encryption. This means that nobody can see and listen to the contents of your messages. However, the report further mentions that it is important for the company to bring an option as it ensures the security of users and the platform.

The report option is also available on other Instant messaging platforms. As mentioned earlier the company is currently testing the ability to report status updates on its desktop version. As the feature is under development process, it will be released in a future update of WhatsApp desktop beta.

WhatsApp is also planning to bring the same feature to beta Android and beta iOS users in the coming days. For the more latest news on all upcoming new features and developments of WhatsApp keep following us.

The feature, currently in beta testing for desktop users, promises to uphold user privacy by maintaining end-to-end encryption.
