WhatsApp working on a Screenshot blocking feature
As popularly known WhatsApp keeps on testing and bringing new features on the platform to enhance user experience. The company has always prioritized user safety and security. This time also the company has introduced a new privacy feature to make the app more secure for its billions of users globally.
On 9th August 2022 Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced three new privacy features on Facebook. These new features are – past group participants, choosing who can see when you are online on WhatsApp, and screenshot blocking. The post also mentioned that these features will be available on a future update of WhatsApp.
As the name suggests the third privacy feature prevents users from taking screenshots of view once images and videos. According to WABetaInfo, this feature was already under development process for WhatsApp beta iOS. Now the platform is developing the same feature for the beta Android apps too.
WAbetaInfo has also released a preview of the feature in its report. As seen in the preview the company is developing a new presentation screen that adds a new version of the view once feature. This new version makes it impossible to take screenshots of view once images and videos. However, you may always take photos by using any secondary device or camera.
The report further mentions that when the recipient attempts to take a screenshot the app will automatically block it. Although the attempts will be blocked the sender won’t receive any notification about it. As mentioned earlier screenshot blocking feature is currently under development process so it is not available at present.
The company plans to release it at a later update of the app. If there are any new details available on its progress, we will inform you through a new post on our website. For further details on all upcoming new developments stay tuned with us.
