WhatsApp is developing the ability to report status updates on the beta Android app for future updates. The leading WhatsApp news portal WABetaInfo already shared news about this feature in the previous month. The report mentioned that the Meta-owned company was working on this under-development feature for beta Desktop users.

In this current beta update, the WhatsApp dev team is planning to introduce the same feature for beta Android users. The company is planning to add a new ‘report’ button within the status option of the Android app. This feature is reported to be a successor of the already available ‘report messages’ feature.

According to the reports of WABetaInfo, the under-development feature, ‘report status updates’ lets you report any unwanted or suspicious status update that may seem to violate the Meta-owned company’s terms of service. This new feature is said to be an extension of the report messages feature that was rolled out to users a few weeks back.

In its latest report, the WhatsApp news source has shared some information about the development of this same feature on the Android app. In the available screenshot of the feature, you can get a preview of how the interface looks.

The image reveals that the platform will be adding a new ‘report’ option in the status update settings. When you use this option, the content will be instantly forwarded to the WhatsApp moderation team for review. The team will verify if the status update is objectionable and violates the company’s terms of service.

The report further mentions that the ability to report status updates feature is very important to maintain the safety of the platform as well as its user. This is why all other instant messaging apps also have similar features.
