PS5 Digital Edition faces price increase in India again. Sony has not announced the news officially yet. But trusted sources and websites show the updated prices.
Indian gamers may need to spend more now. Only the digital edition price has changed this time.
PS5 Digital Edition Faces Price Increase in India: New Price Details
Sony has quietly increased the PS5 digital edition price. It is now listed for ₹49,990 on Sony’s online store. Earlier, it was available for ₹44,990. That’s a direct ₹5,000 hike. This new price is for the slim digital version only.
Interestingly, the Fortnite PS5 digital bundle is still ₹44,990. This might be due to stock clearance or temporary pricing. The disc edition price stays unchanged at ₹54,990. Sony has made no changes to accessories like DualSense controllers or headsets.
Previous Price Trends and Global Hikes
The PS5 Digital Edition faces price increase in India once again. But this isn’t the first time Sony changed prices. At launch in 2020, the digital edition cost ₹39,990.
The disc version cost ₹49,990. In 2022, prices increased due to global inflation. The digital edition then became ₹44,990. The disc edition jumped to ₹54,990.
Sony cut ₹5,000 from both versions in 2023. This brought prices back to launch levels. In 2024, the PS5 Slim launched at those same prices. The current ₹49,990 hike shows a return to higher costs.
Internationally, Sony hiked digital PS5 prices in UK, Europe, and Australia. Europe saw a €50 increase due to inflation and currency issues.
Why PS5 Digital Edition Faces Price Increase in India Now
Sony hasn’t given an official reason yet. But similar past hikes happened due to economic pressure. In April, Sony raised PS5 digital prices worldwide. India’s increase now follows the same pattern.
Retailer DT Zone and users on social media also support this update. Sources suggest the disc version might also become costlier soon.
Sony sold fewer PS5 units in FY 2024 than FY 2023. Last year, it sold 20.8 million units. This year, it managed 18.5 million. Economic issues and tariffs also affected console makers. Even Microsoft raised Xbox console and game prices. All these factors may be forcing Sony to adjust Indian prices now.
PS5 Digital Edition faces price increase in India quietly. The new price is ₹49,990, up by ₹5,000. Indian buyers should wait for festival offers or sales. Discounts may help reduce the cost in future deals.
