The central government has created a new ministry called Jal Shakti, this ministry has been formed by merging the Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Rejuvenation and the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. Through this, water management and regulation will be done by a single department.

In 2014, the government, headed by Narendra Modi, included Mission Swachh Ganga in the water resource by separating it from the Ministry of Environment and Forests. During the 2019 Lok Sabha election campaign,

Prime Minister promised to create a unified ministry for water-related issues. The water minister provides to the Gajendra Singh Shekhawat.

What is the Ministry of Jal Shakti?

Ministry of Jal Shakti scheme has been launched in India by the government of Narendra Modi. This plan was announced by Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in July 2020.

The Bharat Janata Party had promised a tap-to-water scheme during the Lok Sabha elections 2019, with the aim of making drinking water available to all households through pipes, the scheme would be part of the government’s Water Life Mission.
