TRAI new rules for Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL users bring big changes. You can now switch mobile plans faster and easier. Also, SIM cards will stay active longer without recharges. These updates help reduce costs and improve convenience.

TRAI New Rules for Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL Users: Change Plan in 30 Days

The Department of Telecom has shortened the switch period. Now, users can change from prepaid to postpaid in 30 days. Earlier, the waiting time was fixed at 90 days.

This rule is for first-time conversions only. If you convert using OTP later, it remains 90 days. So, future changes through OTP will still take longer.

If someone wants to re-convert during this time, it’s possible. But you must visit the service provider’s store for KYC. You cannot use OTP for these quick changes again.

All telecom companies must clearly tell users about this rule. The 30-day or 90-day lock-in must be shared every time. It helps users stay informed and avoid confusion.

KYC rules and safety checks remain the same as before. Users need to submit ID proof and forms to make changes. This process ensures the safety of the mobile network system.

SIM Validity Without Recharge

TRAI now allows keeping SIM cards active without recharges. This helps people who use their secondary SIMs less often.

Jio SIM Validity:

Jio SIM will stay active for 90 days without recharge. During these 90 days, incoming calls may work partially. It depends on your previous recharge plans.

If you don’t recharge after 90 days, the SIM gets deactivated. The number may later be given to a new user.

Airtel SIM Validity:

Airtel SIM also remains active for 90 days. After that, users get a 15-day grace period. If not recharged, the number is removed from your account.

Vi SIM Validity:

Vi offers the same 90-day validity without recharge. But after that, a recharge of ₹49 is required. This keeps the number active for future use.

BSNL SIM Validity:

BSNL offers the longest validity of 180 days. You don’t need to recharge for six full months. It is a great choice for low-usage SIM cards.

Extend SIM Validity for 30 More Days with ₹20

If you still don’t recharge after 90 days, ₹20 can help. TRAI allows an extra 30 days of SIM activation. The ₹20 gets deducted from your existing prepaid balance.

If you don’t have ₹20 in balance, the SIM stops working. The number may then be assigned to someone else.

TRAI new rules for Jio, Airtel, Vi, BSNL users are very useful. You can now switch plans faster and keep SIMs active longer. These updates help avoid frequent recharges and give more control. Follow the new rules and save time, money, and effort with your mobile service.
