Google’s forthcoming smartphone, Pixel 9a, has sparked excitement with leaked live photos that provide an exclusive look at its design. The new model, which is set to emerge as the successor to the Pixel 8a, promises to make minor but significant modifications to the Pixel series. Here’s what leaks say about the Pixel 9a’s look and functionality.
Pixel 9a Design
Recent live shots of the Pixel 9a prototype, shared by X user fenibook (@feni_book), reveal a closer look at its rear panel. Unlike the trademark “G” logo found on final Google devices, the prototype uses a different placeholder logo, which is standard practice for test models.
The back camera arrangement distinguishes out with its oval-shaped horizontal module, which differs from the metal “visor” appearance seen on the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro. This arrangement has two back cameras, precisely aligned to the left, and an LED flash to the right.
On the front, the Pixel 9a is very similar to its predecessor, the Pixel 8a. It has a center-aligned hole-punch cutout for the selfie camera and bigger bezels, consistent with Google’s budget-friendly design philosophy.
Specifications
The Pixel 9a is expected to use the Tensor G4 chipset, which is also present in the premium Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro variants. It will supposedly have 8GB of RAM and a storage capacity of up to 256GB.
Camera: A 48MP dual rear camera arrangement is predicted, potentially improving image quality greatly.
Display: The phone is said to include a 6.3-inch display with a dynamic refresh rate ranging from 60 to 120Hz.
Battery: A larger 5,000mAh battery is expected, providing longer battery life than the Pixel 8a’s 4,500mAh battery.
