When you want to know something, the first instinct that comes to your mind is to Google it. The internet giant has left such an impact on our minds that we search almost everything on Google. However, don’t forget that Google keeps track of everything you search on it in the form of search history. Irrespective of the device you use, you always have the option to delete your browser history. Delete your Google History from a Mobile Device or Tablet

You will need a few taps to delete your Google history from a phone or tablet. You have the option to either delete your entire search history, or you can quickly delete the search history of the last 15 minutes.

Delete Google Search History from Google Search App

Google Search app provides many privacy options, and one of them includes deleting your search history. You can use the below steps to do so:

  1. Launch the Google Search app on your mobile or iPad.
  2. On the top right corner of your screen, tap your profile icon.
  3. Click Search History.
  4. You might need to verify yourself before deleting your search history. Tap the blue Verify button at the bottom of your screen to do so.
  5. Tap continue, and it will ask you to enter your home screen lock pin or password.
  6. You can now see your complete search history with a cross mark in front of each of them. 
  7. If you wish to delete a particular page from the search history, you can tap the cross icon. You will also find a cross icon in the form of a day if you wish to delete the search history of a particular day, tap that cross mark.
  8. If you wish to delete your entire search history or in bulk, you can tap the blue Delete icon at the top. You will find options such as Delete Today, Delete Custom Range, Auto-delete, or Delete All-time. The delete options will allow you to wipe out search history for a specific period. If you tap Auto-delete, you can set a specific period, after which your Google history will be deleted automatically. You can set a 3, 6, or 18-month period to delete your search history.

Although your Google Search history will be cleaned using the above steps, your browsing history will remain intact.

Clear Search History from Google Chrome

If you use the Google Chrome app on your Android device, along with the Google search history, you will need to delete that history as well. You can use the below steps to do so:

  1. Tap the three-dot icon at the top-right corner of your screen.
  2. Go to Settings and then to Privacy and Security.
  3. Click Clear Browsing data.
  4. You will find an option to customize the data range for which you wish to delete your browsing data.

Delete Search History of Google Chrome on iPhone or iPad

Google Chrome has a slightly different interface when you use it on iPad or iPhone. You can use the below steps to delete your Google Chrome search history on your iOS device.

  1. Open the Google Chrome browser on your iOS device and tap the three-dot icon at the top right corner of your screen.
  2. Tap History and click Clear Browsing Data.
  3. You will find the time range for which you wish to delete the data. It may vary from one hour to 24 hours, seven days, four weeks, and so on.
  4. Click Clear Browsing Data and confirm it.

Delete Google Search history from Google Chrome Desktop Browser

If you don’t have your mobile device handy, you can use the below steps to delete Search History from your Google Chrome Desktop browser:

  1. With your browser, go to Google Chrome Activity.
  2. You will find a list of your browsing history including the search history of your mobile device.
  3. Apply the filter on the date and product for which you wish to delete the history.
  4. Click Search and Apply the filter.
  5. You will get your Search history. It allows you to either delete it one by one or all at once using Delete Results.
  6. Click Delete to confirm your request.
  7. You will get an option of whether you want to delete it for the Last hour, Last day, or All time. You can also add a custom range for which you wish to delete the search history.
  8. To delete Search history, select Search from the option and click Apply.
  9. You will see a window summarizing the history you are deleting. Click Delete to confirm.

It will only delete your Search history. If you also wish to delete your browsing data, you can use the below steps:

  1. Launch the Google Chrome browser and tap the three-dot icon at the top right.
  2. Tap Clear Browsing Data.
  3. Select the period for which you wish to delete your browsing history.
  4. Select the type of history you wish to delete, such as cache, cookies, site data, or Browsing history, and click Clear Data.

Auto-delete Google Chrome History

If you wish to auto-delete your Google Chrome history, you can use below steps:

  1. Sign in to your Google My Activity page.
  2. Click the hamburger icon at the top and go to Activities Control.
  3. You will find a list of Google apps whose history you can delete. Select Google Chrome from the list.
  4. Select Auto-delete (Off).
  5. Turn on the toggle button beside Auto-delete activity older than and select the time range for which you wish to delete the data.
  6. Tap Next, preview your delete choices, and click Confirm to lock them.

Wind Up 

When using Google services, it saves all the browsing data that you search on your account. If you wish Google to not save the data, our recommendation is to use a private window to browse.
