OpenAI updated the status page with regular information. The company said their engineers found the root cause. They worked to bring back the services quickly. By 6:32 PM ET, API services were fully restored. Most ChatGPT parts started working for all users again.

Still, one major problem remains—ChatGPT’s voice mode. It continues to show high error rates and slow performance. OpenAI said they are working to fix this soon.

Users Faced Errors, Slowness, and Access Problems

During the outage, many users took to social media. They reported that ChatGPT was not loading properly. Some got network errors while using the website. Others said that even the mobile app did not work.

The problem was not the same for everyone. A few users were able to access ChatGPT without issues. Others had very slow replies or no replies at all. Some said that the chatbot took too long to respond. Perplexity, which uses OpenAI models, also saw slowness.

This outage is among the longest ones in recent times. It lasted nearly the whole day on Tuesday. Users had faced smaller outages earlier this month too. On June 9, ChatGPT search had issues for a while. In February, a worldwide outage lasted for two hours.

But Tuesday’s issue was much longer than that. This made users frustrated and confused. OpenAI’s fast updates helped users stay informed. But voice mode still remains a big problem now.

The problem affected global users, not just in India. Many developers, students, and businesses were unable to work.
