Airtel rolling out 5G services in 8 cities in India

Airtel is reportedly rolling out 5G services in 8 cities in India. According to the available reports the company chairman Sunil Bharti Mittal announced this launch at the launch event of the India Mobile Congress (IMC). The reports also mention that for now the technology will be available in selected cities of India and will cover the entire country by March 2024.

However, at present, the Telecom operator has not revealed any details about its plans and availability. Currently, the service is available in Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, Siliguri, and Varanasi. However, it aims to reach other cities soon In the coming years.

So the residents of the cities using 5G smartphones with Airtel SIM can now avail of this next-generation technology. You just need to change the network settings of your device. As per reports, the 5G services are said to be available at 4G rates at present. New tariffs and schemes will be announced later.

The reports added that with this upgraded technology the adoption of cloud gaming, AR/VR technology, and other internet activities will speed up. On the launch occasion, PM Narendra Modi mentioned that the rollout of 5G will play a key role in the benefits of the internet and open new possibilities for all new and old users.

PM Modi also added that the 5G service will help in the country’s technological revolution and support the digital India movement.

Set a 5G network on your phone

To change your network settings in 5G go to ‘settings’ of your smartphone. Then tap on ‘mobile networks’ or ‘SIM cards and mobile networks. After this navigate to ‘network mode’ or ‘preferred network type’. Then select 5G network type. After you tap this option your device will search for a 5G signal.

As soon as the network is available it will be displayed on your phone screen. If you do not get the 5G signal in the above-mentioned cities where the technology has already been rolled out please wait for some time. According to the CEO of the company the team is working on installing equipment on mobile towers for 5G service.
